Alprazolam triazolobenzophenone is a chemical compound that is a prodrug to the triazolobenzodiazepine derivative alprazolam. At a neutral pH level the Alprazolam Prodrug cyclizes into alprazolam. But in acidic conditions it undergoes a ring-opening reaction back to the ketone.
A series of related acyl derivatives were researched in the 1980s as injectable water-soluble prodrugs to alprazolam, but never developed for medical uses. This compound was first identified in Spain during March of 2014.
